Editorial Policy
Credit Where Debits Due publishes plain-English guides on business and personal finance for Australian small business owners and founders. This page explains how articles are written, checked and kept up to date.
Who writes the articles
Every article is written and edited by me, Santo, a working CFO and company director. The ideas, positions and examples in each article come from my own principles and professional experience.
How articles are produced
Articles are drafted with the help of AI writing tools, working from my own principles and notes. I review, edit and approve every draft before it's published. Nothing is published automatically.
Fact checking
Figures, rates and thresholds are checked against official Australian sources, such as the ATO, ASIC, ASIC Moneysmart, business.gov.au, the Fair Work Ombudsman, the ABS and the RBA.
Articles state which financial year a rate or threshold applies to.
Every article is checked for originality before publishing, and where an idea comes from another author, I credit them.
Keeping articles current
Australian tax rates and thresholds often change on 1 July. Articles that include rates or thresholds are reviewed after each change, and every article shows when it was published and last updated.
Independence
My content is not paid for by advertisers or product providers. Some articles contain affiliate links, which are always disclosed. See the Affiliate Disclosure for details.
Corrections
If you spot an error, please tell me through the Contact page. I'll review it promptly, correct the article if needed, and update its "last updated" date.
General information only
My articles are general information, not personal advice. See the Disclaimer.
